The joint representative Jirga of district Dir Lower and Payan met NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti here at his office on Wednesday. The chief minister lauded the efforts of local peace jirga of Dir for establishment of peace and elimination of militancy and said it is our collective responsibility. The chief minister constituted six members committee from the jirga for the development activities proposed by the jirga, registration of the IDPs and solution to other problems and difficulties. The committee will put up their suggestions and recommendations in collaboration with provincial chief secretary, DG PARSA, and administrative secretaries of law, health, higher education, school and literacy departments and commissioner Malakand. He directed the committee for regular conduction of their meeting on monthly basis in order to resolve the problems of both districts of Dir according to their aspirations. The chief minister wholeheartedly thanked the participants of the jirga and said the jirga is composed of provincial and national level dignitaries which has its own identity.
The chief minister said political and ideological differences exist amongst us, however you are united over the safety and security of the country and reconstruction and rehabilitation of Malakand division adding that we can’t wait for foreign aid for the reconstruction of Malakand division and the estimated cost for reconstruction and settlement is 86 billion rupees, and developmental funds will be utilized to this purpose, he declared. The chief minister stressed the federal government for provision of resources for the issuance of smart card to 53 thousand additionally registered affected families of Dir Upper and Lower. He assured that the meeting of Council composed of people representatives under Afraseyab Khattak will soon be called for unanimity over reconstruction activities and its regular conduction will be ensured on monthly basis.
The chief minister said he had contacted the federal government in connection with upgradation of Chakdara Grid Station and said the problem of low voltage will no more confront the people. As far the problem of load shedding exceeding the schedule is concerned, the chief minister said the federal minister and WAPDA authorities will be contacted in this connection.
The chief minister said the Nizam-e-Adl Ordinance has been issued as per aspirations of the people and its implementations will be ensured adding that agriculture loans in the affected districts has been remitted and relief in utility bills will be forwarded to the federal government. Provincial Ministers belong to district Dir Lower and Payan, MNAs and MPAs, Senators, representatives of all the political parties and officials of district administration were also present in the jirga.
Earlier Ahmad Hasan Khan and Sahibzada Tariq Ullah throw detailed light on the problems and difficulties confronting the people of Upper and Lower Dir. Later members of the jirga thanked the chief minister for humble listening to their objectives and taking keen interest in its solution. |
